Oxford Borough is a unique and diverse rural urban center rich in community pride and neighborly values. The Borough continues to experience widespread growth. Surrounded by five townships (Upper & Lower Oxford, East & West Nottingham, and Elk Townships) the Borough provides these municipalities with a central school system, fire and emergency services. Nearly the southernmost point of Chester County, Pennsylvania, Oxford serves as the hub of this promising economic region with a population base of about 26,000 and key arteries leading to several major cities on the eastern seaboard. Oxford provides an enriching rural life-style with the convenience of quick travel times to Philadelphia, Baltimore, Harrisburg, Washington DC, and New York City.
Where everybody knows your name. True in this village! Oxford was founded by families and continues to boost a community that has strong family ties and a sense of neighbor-helping-neighbor friendliness. A small town feeling abounds when walking the streets. Oxford is also rich in ethnicity. There is a large percentage of many different ethnic populations and culture that are represented in our community and who own and operate successful businesses on our main streets. The borough is also proud of the wide variety of supportive entities offered, such as: churches, civic groups and community organizations, the Oxford Area School District, and Lincoln University.
While some of the more prominent areas of Chester County saw their share of growth and expansion during the last decade, the trend has shifted. Reports indicate that Southern Chester County is growing at a tremendous rate of speed. The Borough of Oxford recognizes this growth trend and is moving forward to accommodate the needs of our new neighbors and families.
